A group of ten sentenced of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced accusations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.

The court issued suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has still to be made public.

A persistent unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's gender.

Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has often echoed these allegations on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.

The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
