This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update. Online Platforms Response Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms. They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Changes Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Accounts One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Necessary Adjustments Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
